A day or two late....

Well, last week I didn't keep up my weekly blog post. Sorry to all you faithful readers, I know your weekend was ruined without an update from the Summeys. To be honest, I sat down to write on Friday afternoon, I just couldn't think of what to say (yes folks, that does happen to me occasionally) and then got distracted and never got back to it. We had a fun week last week. Our new couch finally arrived and our old couch left. I was so happy to see it carried out! Another seminary family that needed some furniture took it away. It was nice to see it put to good use.
Andrew~sad to see the old couch go!

About 10 seconds after our new couch arrived I was staring at it having the buyers remorse that I have about everything I purchase. I was really doubting if I should have went with fabric. Is it really going to hold up like I want it too? Is it really going to clean. As I contemplated my decision, Audrey was upstairs drawing all over our office chair with a pen! As soon as I walked into the bedroom and saw her, she so casually turned around and put the pen back on the desk and looked at me like "what", I'm just watching tv. The chair is a similar color and fabric as the couch so I was thinking "Great", this is what is going to happen to my couch!!! Well, after a phone call to mom (sorry mom, I didn't believe your suggestion), a quick google search, some rubbing alcohol and 12 q-tips all the pen came out. So, maybe my couch will make it after all.

Before~Audrey's masterpiece!

After! It all came out. You can still see a few discoloration marks on here because it wasn't completely dry but now those are gone too.

We also pulled out the kids Easter baskets this week and found the wonderful "beaber" sunglasses. My mom bought the kids some sunglasses last year that look like bunny faces. Audrey hated them last year and again this year. I'm not sure why because she loves her regular glasses. Anyways, one day last year around Easter we were getting in the car and Andrew asked me to go back inside and get his "beaBer" glasses. At the time, I had forgot about the bunny glasses and had no idea what he was saying. I kept saying "what?" and he kept repeating the same thing "beaber". Finally, he said, "Mom repeat after me "B"- "Ber". By then I was just laughing. Once I explained to him that I didn't know what a beaber was he quickly said the Easter sunglasses. I said "you mean the bunny glasses", and he said, "I thought it was a beaber (aka. beaver in the English language).

Last year~she wouldn't even put them on.

This year~she wore them, but wasn't happy about it!

We also celebrated Chip's and Andrew's birthdays a week early this weekend. Since we (me and kids) will be in FL for their birthdays we had pizza, presents, and cake on Saturday.

KING Me

Oh, I am so excited...we finally got our king size bed out of our storage unit last night and what a difference it makes. When we moved into our townhouse in August we (okay I, Chip could of carried less) decided that it would be better to use our full size guest bed and store our king bed. I was thinking that it would be better to have more floor space and our bedroom is rather small. How big of a difference would it make? Boy, was I wrong. I don't think I've slept well in 7 months. Chip and I both like to stretch out when we sleep and would rather not touch the person next to us (I know, very romantic). Well, that doesn't work well in a full size bed with two adults. And don't even think about putting a child in the middle. Every time Audrey had a bad night and I just wanted to put her in our bed at 5am, that was out of the question. Needless-to-say, Audrey and I have slept more on the couch in the past few months that ever before. We moved our storage rooms a few weekends ago to save a little money and we finally could get to our bed, which was in the very back of our unit. I am happy to report that we both had a great night of sleep and when Audrey was up at 6am, I was able to snooze a little more with her in the bed with me (watching Elmo of course).
I am also happy to report that we are all well! The weather here has finally warmed up some and we've seen the sun a few times this week. It makes for great afternoons to play outside. I have to admit that when we first moved here I was a little skeptical about seminary housing. Yes, two friends had both told me that they loved it, but I was thinking well they didn't have kids and they hadn't just moved out of a house. Now after 7 months I have to say that I am so glad that we chose to live here and we have been so blessed by our neighbors and the community of seminary families around us. While the space is a little small and it takes some adjusting, it is so nice to be able to just walk outside and have sweet neighbors and instant playmates for Andrew and Audrey. I don't know how long we'll stay, but we are sure enjoying it while we are here.
Here are a few pictures of the kids playing in the neighbors' sand table and of Audrey playing outside in her rain boots. She loves to wear them and I thought it was so cute with skirt!

It's raining, it's pouring...

It's raining and supposed to all weekend (guess it makes the first song only fitting). I guess that makes for a good weekend to sit inside and recover from the flu. Yes folks, Andrew and I both have the flu. It all started last weekend when Andrew started running a fever on Saturday. When our neighbor (whose house he had played at on Sat.) tested positive for strep on Sunday I took him to a walk in clinic Sunday afternoon. We started treating him for strep at that point. The dr. didn't even do a strep test (note to self: fever, sore throat, headache, flu season...at least test for the flu). By Tuesday he was feeling better, fever gone but refusing to walk when he got up in the morning saying that his legs were hurting. Wednesday morning I sent him to school, limping and all, and took myself to the doctor assuming I had strep. Wrong! I had a sore throat and a fever, but I almost fell of the table when he walked in and said it's not strep, it's the flu. What!!! I never get sick. Since I had just started the fever I was able to start taking some flu meds. After I picked Andrew up from school he started complaining that he was cold and I thought...um, that's not good, it's 80 degrees outside. His fever had returned. So, off we went to the doctor and yes he was positive for the flu too. Ooops! Guess he shouldn't been at school that morning. Andrew was sure that he didn't have the flu. He kept reminding me that he had his flu shot. Try explaining to a 4 year old that "Yes, I did say that you have to get the flu shot so you wouldn't get the flu, but yes now you have the flu". He didn't like my reasoning on that one. It was too late for him to start flu meds by that point and that lovely antibiotic was doing nothing. So, now it's Friday and Audrey's fever has begun. Hopefully we can start her on meds tonight and it will help her some. We are off to the dr now. Weeks like this are why you're not supposed to live 11 hours away from the grandparents!

Oh...and Chip...wondering if he still lives here???? Well, he is still well at this point but has stayed at work as much as possible the last 3 days and only comes home at night because he feel bad for me! And when he is at home he is walking around with a can of lysol spraying everything that he touches and staying yards away from all of us. He may be spending the weekend at the Comfort Inn to avoid us! Oh, only kidding, he won't be that lucky.

Here are a few new pictures below, taken this week prior to our flu outbreak! If you're wondering about the yoga pictures..we have exercise tv on our On Demand Cable. There are kids exercise programs and Chip showed Andrew one of the kids yoga shows. It's just about 5 minutes long and she does different stretches with them. They both love it and Andrew asked to do it every night before bedtime. Audrey likes it too and tries her best to imitate the streches. It's quite amusing to watch.

Doing some bike tricks!
Running from the geese....they're not really chasing her, I think she just thought they were.

Practing our yoga!

Playing outside.

Gymnastics

Today was another fun-filled gymnastics class for us. The kids each have a class one hour a week and they both love it. Andrew's class actually works on some skills, while Audrey's class is more like one hour of structured free-play (if that is such a thing). They both enjoy going and always leave tired (my favorite part of the class). Nothing like getting to run, jump, hang and swing around for an hour in an indoor gym. It really is a great thing. Here are a few more pictures from today. I took a bunch of pictures but most of them ended up blurry because the kids were moving and because of my lack of photo skills. Audrey's favorite part is the swing. (Andrew's class doesn't get to do the swing because it is only for the little ones.) Can you see how high they go? On our first day the teacher commented that the new girls in the class may not want to swing at first. She was the only new one that ran right up to the swing and didn't bat an eye. He started her off real low and slow, but I said I think she can handle it and off she went. She loves every minute of it.

She was concentrating really hard!

Showing off for the camera. Check out his new NC State uniform!
On the swing with the elephant.

Pure joy for Audrey!

More Snow Fun

Chip was at work Monday during all of our snow fun, so when he got home they headed back outside for more playtime. Andrew had been waiting all day for a good snow ball fight, since mom wasn't such a good sport about him throwing snow at her. He also really wanted to get back at Chip for a throwing snow at him earlier in the morning. When Chip was leaving for work, Andrew was standing inside the house at the front door waving goodbye and Chip threw a huge snow ball at us and hit Andrew right in the chest. Snow went everywhere and Andrew was so upset. I think it just really surprised him one and he got all wet. Needless to say, he started crying and got so upset. I convinced him that he could get him back really good that night so he waited all day for Chip to get home. It was really cold and Audrey was not happy. She was having difficulty deciding whether or not she really wanted to be outside. She wanted to be outside playing, but didn't want to be so cold! She eventually agreed with me (after one to many snow balls to her face....thanks, Andrew) that the warm house was the best and left the boys outside for the snowball fights.

Andrew finally getting revenge!

Trying to get a picture of Audrey and Chip...notice Andrew in the back ground... I didn't see him coming around until....
He got them right in the face. Poor Audrey!

Here she is on Tuesday morning ready for school. She loves wearing her new scarf!

Muddy Mushy March Monday Morning

Well, they predicted snow and they were right. We woke up to a couple of inches this morning. However, since it rained all weekend there is a lot of mud under the snow! Chip headed to work because the roads aren't too bad, but schools are closed. I'm trying to remind myself that I should be thankful for this extra time with my kids, instead of missing the kid-free 3 hours I usually have on Monday mornings. We all got dressed in at least 3 layers and headed out in the mush! I'm always amazed at dressing my kids in all the clothes. Neither one of them seem to mind it. I guess if they had to do it everyday, it would get old real quick. Here's few pictures of them having some fun.

We heard a knocking noise and finally found the source! Audrey is looking for the bird.

I guess the snow didn't bother him too much!
