Weekend Update

The weekend is finally here. It's been a busy week in our house. It seems like we have something or two things everyday now. I remember those days when Andrew was a baby and again when Audrey was just born when my biggest plan for the day was finding time to take a shower. Leaving the house was out of the question. And yes, it's still hard to find time for a shower but staying home all day is usually not an option.
We went to the Dora show in Raleigh last Friday night. While I did struggle to buy these tickets, thinking that the cost was too much and that they both wouldn't love it, I was so glad that we decided to go. As soon as we found our seats, both of them were ready for the show to begin. Audrey got right up in her seat, pointed to the stage (where there was a curtain with Dora on it) and said "Dora". The show was about an hour and fifteen minutes with an intermission and they both loved every minute of it. It was completely interactive and had them shouting words and standing up to do motions and they were very into it. I don't know what I was thinking, it obviously was designed for preschoolers. For the first 30 minutes, I'm not sure that Audrey moved. She just sat mesmerized by the actors, songs, and lights. Chip said that she was afraid if she moved it would stop. I highly recommend it to any parents of preschoolers if it is coming to your area. While the tv show is not really a favorite at our house the Stage Show was great. To quote Andrew, "it was the best thing I've ever seen!"
Audrey finally is back to her usual happy self. After a very long weekend and the fact that she only slept 3 hours last Sunday night I took her back to the doctor and we switched her antibiotic and started giving her a probiotic for her tummy. She was 100% better the next day. I'm thinking that the 1st antibiotic was just making her feel crummy and she couldn't tell me (in words...her actions were telling enough).
That's about it for us, no big plans for this weekend, except to get Andrew a haircut tomorrow. It's funny that I can actually think about taking Andrew for a haircut now and not want to cry. Oh, I remember those days just 2 years ago when taking him for a haircut was such an awful experience, full of screaming, crying, and kicking. Now he just goes right in and doesn't think twice about it. I never thought that day would come. Here's two pictures of them at gymnastics. My camera battery died soon after I got there, so I'll have to get some more pictures next week.
Happy Friday!

Friday, Family, Furniture, Fever, Friends, Fireproof, & Fun

Enjoying their new pjs from NeNe

Here we are again. Another week has flown by, it's FRIDAY already and I'm just sitting down to post. It has been a crazy week, so I have a little bit of an excuse, right? Chip's parents came up to NC and we headed over to his aunt's house last weekend to visit the FAMILY. We had a fun time and I even got to eat for the first time at the world famous (okay, maybe just in the Summey house) Lexington Bbq. There is just something about people from NC and their bbq. I didn't mention my favorite "Sonny's" during the meal for fear of being booed, but I did ask for my coleslaw to be on the side of my sandwich, so I stood out as the guest. I'm not sure if I like the coleslaw better on the side or if I just do that to irritate them!! Anyways, all kidding aside it was really good, but I still was craving some sweet sauce when we left. While we had some free babysitting, Chip and I finally found time to FURNITURE shop and found us a new sofa. I really love it, well I will love it when it gets here in a few weeks. Our current sofa was the first one we bought after we got married and it has lived a wonderful almost 10 years, but is ready to retire. Or at least move on to a new home. Which reminds me, I've got to locate some new owners for it. Audrey and Andrew had a great time visiting all of the family and loved spending the weekend Granny and Paw-paw.
Although this isn't focused I wanted to show a picture of them watching videos in the car. I don't understand why they both ride like this. It can't be that comfortable???

Audrey wasn't her usual happy self Saturday evening and I just attributed it to her missing her nap, but she was coming down with something. By Sunday night she was a sick baby with a high FEVER and a tummy ache. Turns out she had an ear infection too, but we didn't find that out till Wednesday. Whatever it was she had, it ended up being passed along to Chip, his parents, and his aunt. All of them spent most or part of the week in bed. As of Friday, I think everyone is back or almost back to normal, except Audrey. She still acts like she doesn't feel well and is very cranky. I'm just praying that she gets back to her usual self soon!!!

Also today our dear FRIENDS, The Senkels, are all packed up and moving. I am so glad that this will bring them closer to us, but I do know that it will be hard. Not just the physical difficulties of moving yourself several states away with 3 little ones in tow, but the emotional difficulties of leaving your home of the last 8 years, your new house that you loved so much, and all of your close friends. Please remember them over these next few weeks and pray that they have a smooth transition from the Big "D" to small town life.

Chip and I had the chance to watch FIREPROOF this week, finally! Everyone kept asking me if I had seen it, so I'm glad to say that I finally have. I had been forewarned that it was a little "cheesy", so I went in expecting that but I have to say that I was really surprised by the film. I really loved it. Yes, it was cheesy at moments and very cheesy at others, but after that Georgia accent grew on me for a little bit, I have to say that the story was really great. The ideas that love is a decision, not just a feeling and that you can't always follow your heart because sometime your heart will deceive you are so true and really spoke to me. I hope anyone and everyone out there who is in a struggling marriage or newly married could see this. It's a good reminder of how things can get in a marriage if you are not working at keeping it strong. Marriage is not easy and just speaking from personal experience if you are not working at it daily and if you don't have the right "heart" when you are working at it, then things can get bad quickly.

Well, this post has turned out to be a lot longer than I planned, so if you are still reading, you get to find out what kind of FUN we are having tonight. We are headed out to see Dora: Live on Stage! Andrew is so excited and Audrey hopefully will be once we get there. Have a great weekend and thanks for reading.

Happy Valentines Day!

I've been slacking lately with posting because truthfully it's been kind of boring around here. Not much to talk about and I often wonder if anyone ever reads this stuff anyways. But, my wonderful older brother told me that he checks the blog everyday, so I thought I better get back to posting. I wouldn't want to disappoint him!!

It's been a week long celebration of Valentines Day here. Which in our house basically involves eating way to much candy (which we bought for others), cookies (which we baked for others), and other sweets and getting our Valentines ready for school. Andrew's party is today and he is very excited. We had to bring icing to the party and he couldn't believe it. That is his favorite food! He was thinking, if I don't like any thing else for snack, at least I can eat the icing. I guess he feels about icing the same way I feel about cookie-dough. It's a wonderful thing!!

Audrey had a little party at school on Wednesday. They made their Valentines with pictures of all of their classmates and she has enjoyed looking through them. She is learning the names of her friends and teachers and it is so cute to see her find their Valentines in the bag and say "Hi" to all of her friends.

Chip's parents are headed to NC this weekend. We're going to his aunt's house to visit and then they'll come back to our house for a day or two. Andrew is needless-to-say "thrilled". He loves visiting Chip's aunt's house and already has packed his suitcase. Of course, we're not spending the night, but he needs a suitcase full of toys anytime we leave town.

......

Well, we are now back from school and Andrew has his Valentines box full of surprises. He already has them all scattered out on the floor, organizing them by which treat he wants to eat first. We took a couple pictures outside today and it is so windy (see Audrey's hair!) it was hard to get one with them both looking. Wait a minute...it's hard to get them both looking at the camera when we are inside, so I guess that excuse doesn't work. Well, we hope you all have a happy Valentines Day!

So excited about his Valentines!
